US House approves Israel boycott sanctions
The US House of Representatives discussed a bill that approves a law restricting American universities' ability to Boycott Israel, by imposing restrictions on federal funding for institutions that take anti-Israel stances, especially those participating in commercial or academic boycott campaigns. The law aims to prevent discrimination by universities against Israel and is considered a controversial step, with many Democrats opposing it, viewing it as a restriction on freedom of expression, while many Republicans and pro-Israel organizations support it. The bill needs to be approved by the Senate before it can become law.
