Arab countries boost contacts with Israeli leaders before elections
Several Arab countries are increasingly engaging with prominent Israeli figures such as Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, and Yair Lapid as part of their preparations for the post-election phase in Israel, scheduled for October 27, 2026. These efforts aim to establish preliminary relations with potential leaders who might assume power in Israel, especially if figures like Eisenkot or others top the political scene, and to gain insight into their policy and strategic plans that they may implement. These moves come amidst fears of a possible coalition shift that could end Netanyahu’s tenure, coinciding with intense internal competition within Israel, and amid widespread regional interest in Israel’s future policies, security issues, and its relations with Arab countries and the Palestinian cause.
