A report from the United Nations Human Rights Office stated that Israeli forces forcibly displaced residents of three Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank during January and February 2025, and continued to prohibit their return, which is a violation of international law. The assault resulted in the destruction or damage of approximately 52% of the buildings in Jenin camp, 48% in Nur Shams camp, and 36% in Tulkarm camp. These military operations led to the deaths of 102 Palestinians, including 21 children, as well as injuries to many others. Additionally, homes were destroyed and infrastructure was damaged, while access to aid was impeded. The widespread and prolonged nature of these forced displacements raises concerns of a crime of forced eviction and ethnic cleansing. The UN High Commissioner called on Israel to immediately end the occupation and the forcible displacement of Palestinians, urging compliance with international law.
