The occupied Jerusalem witnessed an escalation in military activity that resulted in the martyrdom of a young man by Israeli forces near Damascus Gate, allegedly for attempting to stab one of their soldiers. The occupation forces imposed a security cordon and heightened measures, which hindered worshipers' access to the dawn prayer. Additionally, the city experienced an increase in acts of resistance, arrests, and attacks in August 2026. These events occur amidst ongoing violations and assaults on sacred sites and Palestinian residents, with occupation authorities holding the bodies of previous martyrs and continuing their repressive campaigns in the city.
