Arzqiqat: Full salary needed for quality education
The article focused on the challenges of starting the new school year in Palestine amid the financial crisis and salary reductions. The Palestinian Union of Teachers announced a phased system that includes a minimum of three school days per week, with flexibility for additional days depending on improved financial conditions. The union reaffirmed its commitment to teachers' right to full salaries and students’ right to regular education. It clarified that any adjustments based on the economic situation are temporary, with the possibility of reviewing the number of school days once funding improves or salaries are fully paid. The union is also working on initiatives such as a financing project to support adding a fourth school day. It emphasizes the importance of cooperation between teachers and the government to ensure the continuity of the educational process despite difficult circumstances. Ultimately, the union underscored that education is Palestine’s capital and that it seeks to achieve educational stability while protecting teachers’ rights at the same time.
