The 71-year-old Palestinian doctor Mazen al-Rantisi was released after more than four months in Israeli prisons. He said he had suffered from scabies and other health problems without receiving the care he needed, and had seen other prisoners’ health deteriorate because of a lack of treatment. He added that assaults continued until the moment of his release, when he fell and struck his head on a metal object; the injury’s effects are still visible. Despite his pain, sleep problems and loss of balance, he intends to return to his clinic and continue treating patients.
