The low-pressure system flooded around 70,000 tents sheltering displaced people in the Gaza Strip within 12 hours. The rain caused dozens of walls to collapse and left people injured, some seriously. The Government Media Office estimated initial losses at around $3 million, while Civil Defense received 2,166 distress calls but was able to respond to only 218 because of limited resources. The situation raised concerns that families’ suffering would worsen, with more low-pressure systems expected and no safe shelter available.
