Qatar Airways COO on Airspace Closure
Qatar Airways successfully mitigated the repercussions of the complete air shutdown experienced in the region in February 2026, by leveraging its extensive experience in handling major crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The airline ensured the repatriation of over 16,400 stranded passengers both within Qatar and abroad through swift and comprehensive measures at its operations centers and facilities, including hotel accommodations and coordination with transportation partners. Additionally, it organized special evacuation operations for travelers from external stations and developed response plans to address operational challenges related to communications and customer service, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
