UNICEF emphasizes that climate change has a greater impact on girls' education, with increased risks of them dropping out due to heatwaves, storms, and wildfires. The analysis shows that last year's severe weather events affected over 171 million students across 106 countries, disproportionately impacting girls due to school closures and additional household responsibilities. Storms were the primary cause of educational disruptions, affecting 109 million students, while floods disrupted the lives of 70 million people. Heatwaves affected 50 million children and youth. The report warns that the loss of learning opportunities could result in economic losses of up to $200 billion and exacerbate global inequalities. It calls on governments to invest in climate-resilient schools to ensure the continuity of education.
