The European satellite "MTG-I2" has reached its final orbit at an altitude of approximately 36,000 kilometers above Earth's surface, aimed at improving weather forecasts. It was launched last July aboard an Ariane 6 rocket and has joined the "MTG-I1" and "MTG-S1" satellites, which are dedicated to monitoring the weather and atmospheric conditions from geostationary orbit. In the coming months, "MTG-I2" will undergo testing and calibration to ensure its readiness before being operated by the EUMETSAT organization, providing detailed images and data on the atmosphere, clouds, and storms. This will enhance the accuracy of weather predictions and the monitoring of severe weather phenomena across Europe and North Africa. "MTG-I2" is the second satellite in the third generation of the European satellite system for weather observation, which aims to deliver more precise data about atmospheric conditions.
