The public market in Jeddah is considered one of the largest wholesale markets in the region, supplying the cities of Mecca, Taif, and Medina with large quantities of vegetables and fruits. However, it faces issues related to congestion, poor environment, and limited parking due to its old location and surrounding residential areas. It is proposed to establish a modern, integrated food city in partnership with the private sector, including diverse markets and logistical facilities, with the aim of improving performance and meeting the region's needs. This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to enhance food security, attract investments, and create employment opportunities. The project is a significant step toward developing and modernizing the market environment to reflect Jeddah’s economic and tourism stature.
