The article discusses the play "Al-Hussein the Rebel... Al-Hussein the Martyr" by Abdel Rahman El-Sharqawi. It highlights how this work transcends the traditional historical account of the Karbala incident to portray Imam Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) as an ethical resistor against tyranny and unjust authority. The text emphasizes that Hussein’s revolution was a defense of the core message of Islam, not merely a political struggle, depicting speech and moral stance as essential means of resistance. It also sheds light on the idea that silence in the face of injustice leads society into chaos and corruption, and that the blood of Al-Hussein symbolizes a new dawn derived from sacrifice for truth. The play underscores that martyrdom immortalizes the voice of freedom and justice, urging society to take responsibility in confronting oppression.
