The article explores the experience of Iraqi artist Moyed Mohsen, whose work is characterized by a surreal world drawn from his cultural and historical memory. He reimagines the relationship between humans and nature—particularly water, reeds, and the land—integrating people with these elements through his symbolic and sensory perspective. His creations highlight a profound connection between humans and their environment, inspired by mythological elements and folk memory. Characters and forms appear as part of a larger system that transcends reality, venturing into dreamlike realms with a cultural essence. The paintings use calm hues that reflect the southern Iraqi landscape, evoking feelings of nostalgia and contemplation. Lighting in his works conveys inner moods and accentuates time and memory, moving beyond mere depiction of place to reconstruct it through a poetic vision and spiritual concept.
