Yanboo Al Nakhl: Town with Groves and Lakes
A book by Dr. Abdullah Al-Meiqel explores the history of Yanbu Al-Nakhla, clarifying that it was a passage for southern caravans before Islam, and that it later developed into a route for pilgrimage by land. The book discusses the origin of the Khayouf, which consists of a water lake with wells dug into it, then connected by a canal that supplies the farms. It also corrects a common misconception regarding its attribution to Ali ibn Abi Talib, clarifying that it appeared at a later time than him. Additionally, the book examines Yanbu Al-Nakhla's role in pilgrimage journeys and the settlement of the Hashemite noble families there as they fled persecution. It also touches on oral heritage, such as Al-Kisra and Al-Radeeh, emphasizing the connection of the word "Kisra" with singing.
