Should admissions change with education
The article centered around the changing philosophy of education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and how this impacts the university admission system. It highlighted that the new general education system introduced a legislative framework aimed at enhancing the quality of education. This framework is seen as a step towards building an integrated system focused on developing students' skills and measuring educational outcomes in a more comprehensive manner. The article raises the question of the necessity to reevaluate admission tools in universities, such as standardized tests, to align with the new skills required—particularly critical thinking and creativity. It considers that successful educational reform depends on achieving harmony among all components of the education system, from schools to the labor market, ensuring that admission procedures align with modern approaches and current developments.
