American tech transfer to Saudi Arabia for energy device localization
The Saudi Water Authority announced the establishment of the first global plant outside the United States for manufacturing used energy recovery devices in water desalination. Production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The project aims to enhance the efficiency of desalination plants, reduce energy consumption and operational costs, and meet the local demand of 1,200 devices annually, with 40% of the production to be exported to Gulf, African, and Asian markets. The project is projected to contribute approximately 137 million Saudi Riyals to the GDP by 2033 and create over 50 jobs, while transferring manufacturing technology to the Kingdom, supporting supply chain security, and developing the regional water industry.
