US limits on robots heighten China tensions
The United States has imposed restrictions on the import of advanced robotic devices and Chinese-made power converters, considering them a threat to national security, especially those used in vital sectors such as modern robotics and solar energy technologies. These measures come as part of an escalation in the technological dispute between Washington and Beijing, with the possibility for companies to seek exemptions through the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. China responded by rejecting the use of the concept of national security to pressure its companies and affirmed that it is taking measures to protect its interests. Coinciding with this, shares of Chinese companies involved in manufacturing electrical inverters declined, while stocks of American companies that rely on domestic manufacturing and technologies aimed at small facilities remained stable amid the economic tensions between the two nations.
