Rome's positivity contrasts southern tensions
The negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are focused on establishing a ceasefire and ending security violations, amid ongoing Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon through airstrikes in response to Hezbollah's breaches. The two sides discussed border, military, and political issues, with Lebanon presenting evidence regarding the demarcation lines and the current ground situation, and requesting the renewal of the ceasefire. Despite progress in the talks and an improved atmosphere, Lebanon is still awaiting a final stance from Israel regarding the halt to escalation. The two parties are also scheduled to discuss the issue of prisoners in the following day.
