Global maritime security is essential
The article emphasizes the international community's responsibility to protect maritime security and preserve freedom of navigation in vital sea corridors, particularly in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and Gulf of Aden. It indicates that both major and developing countries are harmed by threats from armed groups and arms smuggling, which threaten global trade and increase transportation costs, causing suffering for peoples. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia calls for the establishment of a multilateral maritime defense alliance to enhance control over these sea routes and to protect global economic interests. It considers that safeguarding the seas is not a political option but an international responsibility imposed by human necessity. The article affirms that ongoing threats to maritime vessels jeopardize global stability, and an effective response requires an international coalition that respects international law and deters those who seek disorder, ensuring the continuity of cultural and economic exchanges without chaos or coercion.
