Iraq Seeks Privacy on Oil Exports via Hormuz
Iran has been requested by Iraq to grant it "special status" for its oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, in order to ensure the protection and security of Iraq's oil shipments by reducing reliance on other transit routes. This comes within the context of Iraq's efforts to enhance the security of its oil exports and to ensure the stability of global oil supplies, amid pressures and escalation from some regional and international parties. The sources did not specify additional details regarding the proposed measures or mechanisms to achieve this, but the request underscores the importance of the Strait of Hormuz as a vital passage for oil transportation in the region.
