The Malaysian Ministry of Health announced a sharp increase in dengue cases in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley area, with 58,079 cases recorded since the beginning of August—an increase of 56.2% compared to the same period last year, along with 55 fatalities. Major regions such as Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Selangor experienced significant surges in case numbers, with increases of 106% and 61% respectively. Despite the Ministry of Health implementing intensive preventive and control measures, the risk of infection remains high. Authorities warn of the possibility of the disease spreading to other areas, as surveillance efforts continue to be activated according to the evolving situation.
