The American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has begun its journey back to the United States after spending approximately nine months in the Middle East. This deployment was part of efforts to alleviate the pressure on the USS George Washington, which had arrived in the region to take over some of Lincoln's duties. The extended deployment, coupled with deteriorating living conditions, has raised concerns within Congress and among the crew's families, as some sailors reported decreased morale and issues with basic facilities, despite the Navy's denial of an increase in suicidal thoughts. American officials, including Trump and the Secretary of Defense, downplayed concerns about the length of the deployment, which exceeded the official recommendations prohibiting stays of more than seven months.
