It explains that many people avoid frankness out of fear of loss, which leads to the creation of an unreal environment that distances them from the truth. The text clarifies that the absence of honest criticism fosters a world of false images about oneself, resulting in internal isolation and exemption from constructive feedback. This weakens one’s ability to self-assess and grow. The article emphasizes that the most valuable possession a person has is a true friend who neither fears nor greedily seeks personal gain, because such a friend is the only one who allows you to see yourself as you truly are and encourages accepting observations as opportunities for self-improvement.
