French energy company Engie announced its expansion into clean energy projects in Saudi Arabia through a partnership with the Saudi Power Procurement Company on a battery energy storage project in the Qassim region, with a capacity of 500 MW for 4 hours. This marks the company's first initiative in Saudi Arabia in the field of battery storage. The project is estimated to cost around 250 million dollars and is expected to be ready within a year and a half. Saudi Arabia aims to increase its renewable energy share to 50% of the national energy mix by the end of the Vision 2030 decade, supporting grid stability during periods when solar and wind sources are unavailable. The agreement also covers three additional projects, each with a capacity of 500 MW, involving local and international alliances, with the goal of boosting the development of the clean energy sector in Saudi Arabia.
