Saudi Arabia Pioneers eSports Future
Saudi Arabia has launched its National Strategy for Electronic Sports and Gaming with the goal of transforming the Kingdom into a global hub for this sector by 2030. The project began with the establishment of the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation in 2017 and has developed through investments and partnerships, culminating in the organization of the FIFA World Electronic Sports Games, which was held for the first time in Riyadh in 2024 and moved to Paris in 2026. The initiative aims to build a sustainable industry that provides job opportunities in programming, design, media, and marketing, including the development of games rooted in local culture, alongside attracting international teams and stars. The Paris edition cemented Saudi Arabia’s position as a global focal point, with over 2,000 players from 200 clubs across 100 countries participating, prize pools exceeding $75 million, and engagement from the tourism and economic sectors supporting this vision.
