Riyadh and Paris: Historic Partnership
The article discusses Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to France and its significance in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially amid current international and regional challenges. It reviews the history of the relations between Saudi Arabia and France since King Faisal's visit to France in 1967, which marked a turning point in defining strategic policies. The relationship has evolved into a long-term strategic partnership following the launch of Vision 2030, encompassing areas such as defense, energy, investment, culture, and technology, with the establishment of the Saudi-French Partnership Council in December 2024. The current visit aims to coordinate positions regarding regional crises, particularly the tensions between the US and Iran, working to maintain peace and de-escalate tensions, alongside France’s support for Lebanon and efforts to find solutions to its prolonged crisis.
