The General Authority for Food and Drug Authority in the Kingdom has launched the National Food Composition Database, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, aiming to provide accurate and up-to-date data on the nutrient content of commonly consumed foods and dishes. The database includes information on energy, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibers, based on scientific methodologies and certified quality standards. The initiative seeks to support the development of health and nutritional policies, promote scientific research, raise nutritional awareness, and contribute to improving nutritional status and quality of life. This effort is part of the broader digital transformation efforts and in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
