Oman Sultan in Jeddah Focuses on Ties and Security
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq visited Saudi Arabia in his first official trip abroad since ascending to power, reaffirming the deep historical ties between the two countries. The visit demonstrated the strength of brotherly relations and coordinated efforts to promote regional security and stability, especially amid escalating tensions in the region and developments in the Strait of Hormuz. As a result of the visit, the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council was established, and more than 70 agreements were signed to enhance political and economic cooperation, in addition to launching joint initiatives across various fields aimed at increasing integration between the two nations. The Al-Rub’ al-Khali border crossing was also inaugurated to facilitate transit movement, which has seen approximately 136,000 citizens and 640,000 Omanis crossing since its opening in 2021.
