Houthi smuggling revealed
Video confessions of two members of a Yemeni smuggling cell revealed an Iranian network aiming to support the Houthis in Yemen by providing them with advanced technologies to develop remotely operated, explosive-laden boats. It was found that these individuals, connected to Iranian officers in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, were involved in maritime smuggling operations across the Red Sea, including shipments containing sophisticated electronic and hydraulic systems that allow for guidance and course adjustment of the explosive boats toward naval targets. These developments come at a time when Yemeni and international condemnations of Iranian attacks on multiple Arab countries are increasing, with the European stance also showing signs of new skepticism regarding support for the Houthis, amidst rising concerns over the use of advanced technologies by the Houthis that threaten international navigation security.
