Penalties for violations and tour guide category updates
The Ministry of Tourism in the Kingdom has approved an amendment to the Tourism Guide Regulations, which includes the necessary procedures to modify the status of licensees within 180 days from the date the regulation becomes effective. The amendment requires submitting a criminal background clearance report and passing approved courses and tests, without changing the license's validity date or requiring any financial payment. The modifications cover guide categories such as "Travel Guide" and "Area Tour Guide," aiming to specialize and simplify their adjustment through the electronic portal. Penalties will be imposed on violators after the grace period ends.
