OpenAI announced that its initial public offering (IPO) will not take place before 2027, in order to focus on addressing safety concerns related to the technology and to halt potential existential risks posed by artificial intelligence. CEO Sam Altman confirmed that current circumstances are not suitable for this step, noting concerns that AI could lead to mass casualties by the end of the decade, with the risk surpassing 10% in the coming years. This comes amid increasing calls from leaders of leading companies in the field to slow down the development of AI models due to the rising risks to humanity, as companies continue to implement stricter monitoring systems.
