Required quality standards for rescue stations

A mandatory quality system has been established for maritime rescue facilities to enhance safety and security standards by regulating the inspection, maintenance, and repair of maritime rescue equipment and devices. The system requires obtaining a license from the Public Transport Authority, which involves employing certified technicians, providing sufficient and up-to-date equipment, and implementing a quality system compliant with the international ISO 9000 standards. The license is valid for three years and must be renewed at least 90 days before its expiration. Violators of the conditions may face fines of up to 10,000 Riyals, and records must be kept for a period of five years. The system aims to ensure the readiness and safety of equipment, protect professional responsibilities, and enforce technical and regulatory standards on facilities and individuals working in the maritime rescue sector.
