Snapchat shields UK kids
Snapchat has begun automatically disabling the “Find New Friends” feature for children’s accounts in the UK. This means their accounts won’t appear in public search suggestions or shared lists, helping limit contact from strangers and reduce the risk of grooming and harassment. The move comes amid pressure to comply with the Online Safety Act, after Ofcom data showed that around 32% of British children aged 8 to 12 use active accounts on the platform, despite its minimum age being 13.
