FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended 24 matches during the 2026 World Cup held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, traveling between host cities on a flight that covered over 50,000 kilometers. He spent more than 66 hours in the air, resulting in estimated carbon emissions of around 516 tons of CO2 equivalent. He used a private Gulfstream jet for his transportation, highlighting the logistical challenges and environmental impacts associated with travel during the tournament. These trips were part of Infantino's coverage of the group stage matches, amid criticism from environmental experts regarding their sustainability impact, despite the FIFA's commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
