Fifty members of the European Parliament have called for an investigation by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) into the awarding of the Peace Prize to FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The complaint alleges violations of principles of neutrality and transparency. The letter, issued at a time when the world is focused on the 2026 World Cup, urges FIFA's Ethics Committee to conduct a prompt and serious investigation into the circumstances surrounding the award, especially after criticisms of Infantino's support for Trump's policies, including a call to award him the Nobel Peace Prize. FIFA has not commented on these demands or the criticisms directed at it.
