Striker Breel Embolo, a player for the Swiss national team, is getting close to tying the record for the most goals in the team's history at the World Cup, having scored his fifth goal in the tournament, surpassing the previous record held by Josef Hügi. Embolo, who was born in Yaoundé and moved to Switzerland, gaining Swiss citizenship in 2014, currently plays for the French club Rennes. He has represented Switzerland in both the European Championship and the World Cup. Switzerland's victory over Algeria boosts their chances of reaching the advanced stages of the tournament, after a history of early exits in previous editions.
