Sandro Tonali established himself as the most expensive Italian transfer deal of the summer 2026 transfer window, after moving from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur for 115 million euros (approximately $124 million), surpassing his previous record to become the most expensive Italian player in football history for the second time. Marco Balestra’s transfer from Atalanta to Chelsea, valued at 60 million euros, ranks second, allowing both Tonali and Balestra to account for more than half of the total value of major transfers in the market. Including other deals, the summer transfer window's total spending was significant, with major transactions focused on bringing in young talents and well-known players. There were also notable sale deals, such as Paris Saint-Germain’s 60 million euro transfer of Leao and Rabiot from Roma, reflecting active participation by Italian clubs in the market.
