The final stages of Diego Maradona's death case are being discussed in an Argentine court, where testimony from the defense witnesses will begin next Thursday. Evidence suggests that the medical professionals responsible for his condition, including the neurosurgeon and the psychiatrist, acted inadequately and recklessly, as he should have been admitted to a medical facility after his last surgery rather than being treated at home. Testimonies revealed warning signs of heart failure during the last two weeks of his life, but those responsible for his health ignored them, leading to his sudden death on November 25, 2020, while receiving home care following a brain surgery. The court accuses the involved doctors of premeditated murder, and expert testimonies from medical council specialists and other defendants are expected in the upcoming phase of the trial.
