The case reveals an attempt by a criminal group, led by the former inmate Clément L, to plan the kidnapping of football star Kylian Mbappé and several wealthy and famous individuals in France. They planned to do this using information stored on his phone during investigations after he was robbed of luxury watches from a store in Paris. The targeted list includes 26 people, among them Mbappé, as well as individuals from the finance and art worlds. The case highlights the danger of targeting high-net-worth individuals, especially as access to their personal information becomes easier through social media. It is believed that the group is organized, and that the attempt to target Mbappé increases the security threats faced by sports stars and wealthy investors, given the evidence of training and planning within a structured criminal operation.
