The Brazilian police arrested Lucas de Oliveira Eduardo, who impersonated Grêmio team coach Luis Castro to exploit trust and lure victims into transferring money to him. The scammer began contacting players and staff members in April, using a fake identity. He sent messages containing false instructions and donation requests, including approximately 23,000 Brazilian reais from one of the players. The victim was tricked into funding a supposed social project before the fraud was uncovered by the involved parties, leading to his arrest as part of Operation “Faker 9.” Investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and potential other fraud attempts.
