The Algerian Football Federation has decided to rely on local coaches, led by a duo comprising Antar Yahia and Ibrahim Hamdani, to take charge of the national team. This decision comes after they were unable to find a suitable foreign coach to replace the dismissed former coach Petkovic. This arrangement is considered an interim solution in preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for June 2024, where Algeria will face Zambia and Burundi. The federation aims to appoint this duo for training despite their limited high-level coaching experience, in order to ensure the continued preparation of the team and to face upcoming challenges. The federation will finalize its decision in a meeting next week.
