Netherlands restricts Israeli team supporters
The Dutch authorities in Alkmaar have decided to prohibit the supporters of the Israeli team Hapoel Be'er Sheva from attending their match against Alkmaar in the Europa League, citing security reasons related to the safety of fans, staff, and players. This decision comes after incidents of violence and concerns over a repeat of similar events that took place in Amsterdam in November 2024, where Makabi Tel Aviv supporters tore Palestinian flags and chanted hostile slogans, leading to clashes, injuries, and arrests. Authorities emphasize that the decision was made in coordination with security agencies, amidst fears of escalating tensions, and affirm that the clubs are committed to organizing matches responsibly and safely in accordance with UEFA regulations.
