Turkish Arbitration Board Head Faces Charges Due to Corruption
The head of the Turkish Football Federation Arbitration Committee and six other individuals appeared before the judiciary in Istanbul on charges related to corruption and manipulation in referee management. The allegations include forging official documents, breach of trust, and illicit access to personal data. These investigations follow extensive arrests of 149 referees involved in a case linked to illegal betting, as well as the referral of 450 officials to the disciplinary committee as part of the same investigations. There are concerns that these issues could impact referee rankings and promotion procedures. The authorities and the Turkish Football Federation reaffirm their commitment to investigating and combating corruption, alongside ongoing efforts to restore public confidence in the integrity of football.
