Arnold redirects Iraq to 2027 Asian Cup
Iraqi national team coach Graham Arnold has shifted his focus to the 2027 Asian Cup after the team's elimination from Gulf 27, despite technical gains and improved performance from the new players. Arnold explained that the current goal is to prepare well and deliver a strong showing in the continental tournament, with two friendly matches scheduled in November to enhance the readiness of injured players. He also criticized Iraq’s exit from Gulf 27 via the draw, believing that a FIFA ranking would have been a fairer way to determine the outcome. He affirmed that the Gulf experience will serve as a foundation for the preparations for the Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.
