FIFA's schedule change angers coaches and players
FIFA's new plan has imposed a reduction in the international window from 18 to 16 days, allowing for four matches to be played within this period. This has sparked widespread criticism from European national team coaches. Coaches such as Xavi Hernandez, Thomas Tuchel, and Luis de la Fuente have considered that the tight match schedules threaten players' well-being and lead to injuries, especially with an increase in injury cases due to shorter recovery periods of at least 72 hours. Supporting these concerns, studies have shown a correlation between congested match schedules and increased injury risks. The system will remain in place until 2030, raising concerns about its impact on players' health and club preparedness.
