Benin coach on Messi farewell coincidence
During Lionel Messi's farewell match at the Monumental Stadium, the Beninese national team experienced a historic moment, albeit filled with contradictions. The players failed to obtain Messi’s jersey or even see him before entering the dressing room due to the strict security measures implemented by the Argentinians. Led by coach Gernot Rhor, the Beninese players attempted to exchange jerseys with the Argentine stars, but their efforts were unsuccessful. However, the coach managed to recover a Messi jersey from 2018 with the help of Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni. Despite these setbacks, Rhor considered the experience to be positive and believed it remained a unique opportunity for the young players to participate in a historic international match. The event did not diminish the joy of the encounter or the goals Messi scored as he bade farewell.
