Asian backs Infantino's reappointment
Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, announced the continent's support for Gianni Infantino's bid for re-election as FIFA President, despite the criticism he faced over his canceled plan to sell investment stakes related to the World Cup. The Asian Confederation expressed its backing for Infantino's efforts, praising the development of football in Asia and his accomplishments in transforming the sport to become more global and recognized. This comes as Infantino, who has been FIFA President since 2016, prepares to contest his re-election in March, after losing support from some European confederations due to his plans to open FIFA competitions to the private sector.
