Why Raphinha Stays Quiet
Journalist Alfredo Martínez criticized Carlo Ancelotti in the Catalan newspaper *Sport* for calling up Raphinha despite his injury problems. He noted that the player had returned injured after his last three international appearances, and that an April call-up had kept him out of Barcelona’s knockout matches against Atlético Madrid. Martínez asked why Raphinha, as a senior figure in the national team, did not use his influence to tell Ancelotti that the call-ups were harming him—especially since Brazil were playing friendlies. However, he gave no confirmed reason for the player’s not objecting. Martínez called for fewer call-ups for friendlies during the club season, while acknowledging the coach’s desire to select his strongest players.
