Mourinho Rethinks Defense
Federico Valverde’s injury in the Clásico has forced José Mourinho to reconsider his options at right-back. Valverde left the pitch in the 62nd minute and was then ruled out of the match against Racing Santander because he had not fully recovered. His absence gives Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries a chance to prove they deserve a starting spot. Alexander-Arnold has played just 53 minutes since Mourinho began using Valverde in the position, while Dumfries has featured in 10 of 13 matches, playing nearly 600 minutes in total. The final decision rests with Mourinho, who has recently preferred Valverde despite right-back not being his favored position.
