Manchester United continued their poor run of form with a 2–0 defeat to Chelsea, extending their winless streak to nine consecutive matches for the first time since 1988. They lost six and drew three of those games, including three straight defeats. The team has collected just seven points from its first nine Premier League rounds, with four losses, four draws and one win. They have scored 10 goals and conceded 15, leaving them close to the relegation places. The results have increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick. During their nine-match winless run, United have scored six goals and conceded 18.
